Philostratus’ Life of Apollonius of Tyana for Bibleworks

Posted on February 14, 2013 by Daniel R. Streett

Thanks to Michael Hanel of the Bibleworks blog, Bibleworks users now have access to the Greek text and an English translation of Philostratus’ Life of Apollonius of Tyana, a 3rd century CE work that is quite important for those who study early Christianity, miracle-working in antiquity, the Second Sophistic, and ancient bioi.

For those without Bibleworks, there are public domain pdfs of the Loeb Classical Library versions (with Greek and English on facing pages) available at Archive.org. They are of the old 1916 translation. A newer edition (2006) in 3 vols translated by Christopher P. Jones is now available in the Loeb series.
